Child and Youth Counselling is a specialized area of Counselling that requires a compassionate approach tailored to each person’s different requirements.
I am dedicated to assisting young people in navigating the difficulties they may face no matter how small or large.
Life can be over overwhelming and sometimes it helps to have someone who just listens.
Sometimes it’s school related, sometimes it’s friends related, and sometimes there are things at home that you might feel are out of your control.
No issue is too big or too small, if it is causing you to stress we may be able to better navigate it together.
Coming from a Trauma-Informed background, I utilize a strengths-based framework in my approach to Child and Youth Counselling.
I understand the importance of safety, trustworthiness, choice, confidentiality and empowerment.
My services are here not to make your decisions for you, but to provide a safe environment for you to make your decisions.
My goal is to empower you in the choices you make.
What does working with me look like?
I am flexible in what approach may best suit you. Does being in the office feel overwhelming? That’s fine, we can grab a coffee or a hot chocolate in a cafe instead.
Want to work on goals for the year? Great, we can goal plan together.
Need help in discussing certain topics with your parents/caregivers? No worries, I can be there to aid the conversation or help work out how you would like to approach the topic.
Want to learn about other services in the area that can help? I can research and look into other youth services that may be able to assist you in your journey.
What you would like to focus on will be what we focus on.
Do I work with parents?
I am appreciative of parental/caregiver support however, what is discussed between myself and the young person remains confidential.
Information will only be shared if there is a risk towards the young person or if they wish for me to share with you something that has been discussed.
I hope to meet and get to know you soon.
